Chalmers, 19th Service Battalion - 4th City Pals, Manchester Regiment, who was present out on the Western Front from 8th November 1915, and was then killed in action during the Battle of the Somme in his battalion’s attack at Guillemont on 23rd July 1916.

Cecil Chalmers saw service during the Great War as a Private (No.12298) with the 19th Service Battalion - 4th City Pals, Manchester Regiment, and was present out on the Western Front from 8th November 1915, and was then killed in action during the Battle of the Somme in his battalion’s attack at Guillemont on 23rd July 1916. Chalmers has no known grave, and is commemorated by name on the Thiepval Memorial. Aged 19 at the time of his death, Chalmers was the son of Elizabeth Chalmers, of 57 Molyneux Street, Manchester.
