Wellington Auctions was formed in 2007 when Andy McGarry formerly of medalauctions.com and Malcolm Gordon of Gordon's Medals joined forces, initially it operated from Grays in the Mews Antiques Centre, before moving out of central London to an office in Loughton in 2011, it recently moved again to its current address in mid-2017, in late 2018, Malcolm left the business, and it is now run by Andy McGarry on his own.
The business is primarily focused on the sale at auction of Military Medals of all nations, with a heavy emphasis on British Campaign and Gallantry Medals, although we regularly offer medals and militaria of other nations as well.
In 2017 it started also selling items in a retail style on a commission basis via a new website
Initially publishing paper catalogues via the publication ‘Medal News’ in 2015 the business changed its method of operation, and now has a focus on e-sales, we currently have an email database of several thousand people and growing, as well as Social Media accounts with over 10,000 followers. We also advertise our auctions via The Saleroom website, ensuring wide exposure of items in our sales.
We seek to offer a low cost auction platform, charging 12.5% buyer's commission, and a negotiable 0-12.5% seller's commission, as opposed to the much higher charges imposed by other auction houses. These charges are all inclusive, and are not added to via hidden photography or lotting fees... if you consign your item and it doesn't sell, there are no charges other than those involved in it's return to you.
