Rivett, 2nd Battalion, 60th Royal Regiment of Foot (Kings Royal Rifle Corps) who saw service during the Second Afghanistan War and was present a the action at Ahmed Khel on 19th April 1880 and then at Kandahar on 1st September 1880. Afghanistan Medal 1878-1880, 2 Clasps: Ahmed Khel, Kandahar; (2221 PTE. T. RIVETT. 2/60TH FOOT) Thomas Rivett was born in Burrow, Norfolk and enlisted at Westminster on 31st January 1866, he served at home until 20th September 1866 when he was sent to India. He remained there until 9th December 1878, when he travelled to Afghanistan and saw service as a Private (No. 2221) with the 2nd Battalion, 60th Royal Rifle Regiment of Foot (Kings Royal Rifle Corps) during the Second Afghanistan War being present at the action at Ahmed Khel on 19th April 1880 and then at Kandahar on 1st September 1880. He subsequently served in India from 8th October 1880 until 24th January 1881, when he travelled to South Africa, remaining there until 4th January 1882. Returning home he served for a further ten years being discharged on 27th July 1892.
