This affixed with an old canvas collection tag that is also inscribed in ink: ‘Patrol Leader C Hawkins’. Extremely Rare. Awarded to a C. Hawkins, an Air Raid Patrol Leader for the Borough of Paddington in London during the Great War, who performed his duty during the air raids in the borough in the period from 1915 to 1919. Alderman Lieutenant Colonel Sir Harry George Handover, was Mayor of the Borough of Paddington from 1912 to 1920 and again from 1931 to 1935. The exact number of these medals is unknown, however it was probably not more than a handful that were presented. Good very fine
