Barnes, 2ndDragoon Guards who saw service in India during the Indian Mutiny including during the operations at Lucknow which lasted from November 1857 until March 1858. Also noted as present at Koorlee, Barree and Newabguilge. Indian Mutiny Medal 1857-59, 1 Clasp: Lucknow; (F. BARNES. 2ND DRAGN GDS.) Frank Barnes saw service with the 2nd Dragoons as a Private (No. 1785) from 1st May 1856, then with the 2nd Dragoon Guards as a Private (No. 179) from 1st January 1857, promoted Sergeant on 24th January 1858 he would see service in India during the Indian Mutiny including in the operations around Lucknow which lasted from November 1857 until March 1858 as well as at Koorlee, Barree and Newabguilge. Barnes would be later reduced to Private on 28th December 1858 but promoted back to the rank of Corporal on 27th May 1860, and appointed an Acting School Master Sergeant on 1st July 1860. Promoted Sergeant on 12th December 1860, then School Master Sergeant on 1st October 1861, before being transferred to the 19thHussars as a School Master on 1st December 1861.
