      Description: New Zealand Medal 1845-1866, reverse dated 1863 to 1864, awarded to Private George Arnold, 40th (2nd Somersetshire) Regiment of Foot. As of 1861 when stationed at Birr in the Regimental Depot he was a Corporal but was subsequently demoted, and then went on to see service during the Maori Wars in New Zealand during the early 1860s when his regiment fought in both the Taranaki and the Waikato campaigns. New Zealand Medal 1845-1866, reverse dated 1863 to 1864; (465 G ARNOLD, 40TH. REGT.) George Arnold saw service as a Private (No.465) with the 40th (2nd Somersetshire) Regiment of Foot. As of 1861 when stationed at Birr in the Regimental Depot he was a Corporal but was subsequently demoted, and then went on to see service during the Maori Wars in New Zealand during the early 1860s when his regiment fought in both the Taranaki and the Waikato campaigns. lightly polished on highlights, about Good Very Fine.
