      Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899-1902, 5 Clasps: Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902; (36390 PTE J. GILBERTSON. 92NDIMP: YEO:) John Gilbertson, 23rd Battalion (Sharpshooters) 92nd Company, Imperial Yeomanry was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire in 1876, a driver by trade, he attested as a Private on 7th March 1901 at Manchester. Gilbertson served in South Africa between 29th March 1901 and 9th August 1902 seeing service during operations in the Cape Colony, Transvaal and the Orange Free State before returning to the UK and being discharged from the 90th Company, 21st Battalion (Sharpshooters) at Aldershot on 16th August 1902. He was subsequently a resident of 7 Devonshire Street, Manchester. GVF
