South Africa Boer War and Great War Military Mounted Policeman’s June 1918 Army Meritorious Service Medal group awarded to Lance Corporal J. Beagley, Military Mounted Police, formerly 13th Hussars, who saw service with the Hussars during the Boer War on operations in the Transvaal during 1901 and 1902, and later during the Great War was with the Mounted Police out on the Western Front from 29th November 1915, being awarded the Army Meritorious Service Medal ‘in recognition of valuable series rendered with the Forces in France’ in the London Gazette for 17th June 1918.

Awarded to Private (No.5252) J. Beagley, 13th Hussars, who came from Stockport, Cheshire, and saw service in South Africa during the Boer War on operations in the Transvaal during 1901 and 1902. Beagley later saw service during the Great War as a Lance Corporal (No.P-2381) with the Military Mounted Police, and was present out on the Western Front from 29th November 1915. Beagley was awarded the Army Meritorious Service Medal ‘in recognition of valuable series rendered with the Forces in France’ in the London Gazette for 17th June 1918. Beagley was transferred to the Class Z Army Reserve on 13th February 1919.
