South Atlantic Medal, with Rosette; (CK R WARE D162857Y HMS MINERVA), mounted swing style as worn.

Awarded to Cook (No.D162857Y) R. Ware, Royal Navy, who served aboard H.M.S. Minerva during the Falklands War in 1982. H.M.S. Minerva was a Leander Class frigate, commissioned on 14th May 1964. In 1982 during the Falklands War, Minerva was part of the 'Bristol Group' and joined the war rather late, not reaching the Falklands Islands till 26th May 1982. She performed a number of duties, including escort for other vessels. She returned to Devonport in September, crowds greeted her upon her return. In November 1982, Minerva accidentally rammed the Rothesay class frigate Yarmouth. She was sold for scrap in 1993.
