Turkish Crimea Medal, with obverse ‘Crimea’ privately engraved naming (NO617 SERJT. J. MCGREGOR. 5TH DRAGOON GDS.). There are no papers available for James McGregor, however from the muster rolls available, indications are that he enlisted around 1838 and was discharged 25th November 1862. 5th Dragoon Guards formed part of the Heavy Brigade, but McGregor did not take part in the charge at Balaklava with that force. He was entitled to a Crimea Medal with clasps Inkermann and Sebastopol. Good very fine
