1914 Star awarded to Private J.W. Fowler, 1st Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment who would be wounded and taken Prisoner of War on 24th August 1914during the fighting at Framieres where he would shot through the calf. He would later die of sickness in captivitiy on 2nd April 1918 whilst held at Soltau Prisoner of War Campand is nowbrueid in Hamburg Cemetery.

John William Fowler saw service with the 1st Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment during the Great War and seeing service in the earliest days of the fighting would be wounded on 24th August 1914 suffering a shot through the calf of Framieres and subsequently would be taken Prisoner of War. He would at Hamel and Soltau Prisoner of War camps in Germany, and would die of sickness whilst still at Soltau on 2nd April 1918. He is now buried in Hamburg Cemetery being remembered as the son of the William Miner Fowler and Betsy Fowler of 24 Wintringham Road, Grimsby.
