A good Kings Police Medal to Detective Inspector E. Lee, Stockport Borough Police who was one of just seven members of the Stockport Borough Police to receive the 1911 Coronation Medal and would go on to receive the Kings Police Medal for Meritorious and Distinguished Service from his Majesty King George V at Buckingham Police on 12th February 1914. Along with two silver Sporting Medals on blue ribbon - the first engraved Lancashire Swimming Association 1st Prize won by E. Lee. August 9th 1886 - the second engraved 2nd Prize won by E. LEE September 12th 1881. Detective Inspector Edgar Lee of the Stockport Borough Police was born in Staly Cheshire on 1st August 1860. He joined the Stockport Borough Police on 30th November 1881 at the age of 21 and served 38 years before retiring to pension on 26th September 1919. He was selected as one of 7 from the Stockport Borough police to receive the 1911 Coronation Medal. A highly competent, and well liked officer, he was awarded the Kings Police Medal for Meritorious and Distinguished service by His Majesty King George V at Buckingham Palace on 12.2.1914 "He served under three chief constables, rose to the position of Chief Detective and was so successful in dealing with important cases that on several occasions he was publicly commended by Judges of Assize Chairmen and Magistrates. In his young manhood he was famed as an athlete, winning many prizes in running and swimming competitions. His death occurred after an illness of only ten days." He passed away in Stockport in 1925.
