      A Jubilee 1897, Coronation 1902 and Coronation 1911 group awarded to Police Constable J. Tooke, 4th Division, Metropolitan Police who saw service at the Chatham Dockyard who was present during the suicide of another Constable of the unit, which was later put down to temporary insanity.

      Group of 3: Jubilee Medal 1897, Metropolitan Police reverse (P.C. J. TOOKE. 4TH DIV.) Coronation Medal 1902, Metropolitan Police reverse (P.C. J. TOOKE. 4TH DIV.) these two loose-mounted for wear. Coronation Medal 1911, Metropolitan Police reverse (P.C.J. TOOK.)

      Condition: The first two mounted loose for wear, Good Very Fine

      Constable John Took was born on 14th October 1869 and would see service with the 4th Division, Metropolitan Police who were responsible for the Royal Dockyard at Chatham, Kent during which time the Medway News newspapers of 12th October 1901 describes his presence at the suicide of another Constable who had served in the Dockyard, the coroner later confirming a verdict of suicide due to temporary insanity at the inquest. He resigned from his role on 23rd June 1919. He died on 28th December 1943 in Bristol.
