Alan Robert Gaffney was born on 10th June 1917 and saw service as a Sergeant (No. 527947) in the Pacific with 100 Squadron, Royal Air Force who were based at Seletar, Singapore where he was Chief Technician likely serving the Squadrons Vickers Vildebeest aircraft, he was a passenger in a taxying accident on 2nd April 1940, this noted in the Squadrons Operations Record Book.
