Boer War and later Great War casualty group awarded to Private T. Parker, 1st Battalion, Scots Guards who saw service in South Africa during the Boer War where he took part in the operations in Cape Colony and Transvaal as well as in the action at Wittebergen, he would then serve during the Great War arriving on the Western Front on 27th December 1914and dying of wounds on 25th January 1915. Thomas Parker was a collier and enlisted in Manchester, aged 19 on 23rd August 1897 subsequently seeing service in South Africa during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Cape Colony and Transvaal as well as at the action at Wittebergen. He would later serve in France during the Great War where he would arrive in France on 27th December 1914 and died of wounds on 25th January 1915 and is now remembered on the Le Touret Memorial.
