Joseph Elliott from Carlisle was born 1882 and enlisted in to the 11th service battalion of the Border Regiment / The Lonsdale battalion 27th October 1914. He first landed in France with the battalion 23rd November 1915 and received gun shot wounds to both the left hip & the right shoulder on the Somme.
