      British War Medal (TZ-1433.J.H.SOUTHWELL.AB.R.N.V.R) Joseph Henry Southwell was born in Maryport on 20th August 1891 and enlisted in to the Tyne Division of the R.N.V.R on 12th November 1914. He went on to serve on Gallipoli with the Nelson battalion of t

      British War Medal (TZ-1433.J.H.SOUTHWELL.AB.R.N.V.R) Joseph Henry Southwell was born in Maryport on 20th August 1891 and enlisted in to the Tyne Division of the R.N.V.R on 12th November 1914. He went on to serve on Gallipoli with the Nelson battalion of the Royal Naval Division. He received a shrapnel wound to his right thigh & left hand on Gallipoli 13th July 1915 and sadly died of his wounds the following day, 14th July 1915. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Helles memorial & his next of kin is recorded as his father Joseph Southwell of 29 Fleming street, Maryport, Cumberland. Complete with copy Royal Naval Division service records. Nearly Extremely Fine
