Guardsman R.E. Eddy saw service in Palestine during the Arab Revolt and had been court-martialled on 17th July 1937 being found guilt and sentenced to 14 days detention and stoppage of pay. He would later see Second World War service in North Africa with the 3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards being taken prisoner in late February/early March 1942 and subsequently being held in Altamura, Italy and Hartmannsdorf, Saxony.
