Great War Memorial Plaque (GEORGE WILSON) George Wilson was one of the original members of the 23rd Service Battalion, of the Northumberland Fusiliers 4th Tyneside Scottish. He was born in Newcastle on Tyne and enlisted in Gateshead. He was killed in action on 1st July 1916 the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
