Edgar Minett saw service with the 2nd Battalion, Essex Regiment on the Western Front and is noted by the Red Cross as being missing from 26th August 1914 after the Battle of Le Cateau, he was later confirmed as a Prisoner of War being held at the Prisoner of War Camp at Senne on 31st January 1915. The Red Cross confirmed this to his next of kin Mrs. H. Minett of 10 Station Road, Braintree.
