      Great War Battle of the Somme casualty trio awarded to Private J. Forbes, 8th Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders who saw service on the Western Front from 12th October 1915 and was killed in action on 19th August 1916. Having no known grave he is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial. 1914-1915 Star (S-9037 PTE. J. FORBES. SEA:HIGHRS) British War Medal and Victory Medal (S-9037 PTE. J. FORBES. SEAFORTH.) Along with recipients Fibre ID Tag. Private John Forbes was born in Dalry, Midlothian and enlisted in Edinburgh before seeing on the Western Front from 12th October 1915 with the 8th Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. He was killed in action on 19th August 1916 and having no known grave is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial. On these dates the Battalion was defending the captured Switch Line on the Somme against heavy German counter-attacks. (3) Nearly Extremely Fine
