Cornelius Marney saw service as a Corporal, later Acting Serjeant (No. 1333) with the 17th (County of London) Battalion, London Regiment (Poplar and Stepney Rifles) and later with the Royal Engineers. (No. 551879, No. 570107). He entered France on 10th May 1915 and was later discharged on 16th August 1919.
